Ski Mountain Road climbs from downtown Gatlinburg to Ober Mountain, the region's only ski resort. In winter, skiing and snowboarding draw crowds. Year-round, the Aerial Tramway, ice skating, alpine slide, and mountain coaster keep things lively. The road itself offers some of the best views of downtown Gatlinburg from above.

Free and paid parking available throughout the area. During peak season (June-October and holidays), arrive early for the best spots. Consider parking once and exploring on foot when possible.
Most visitors arrive via I-40 from Knoxville (about 45 minutes). GPS works well for most destinations. Traffic can be heavy on weekends and holidays, especially on the main parkway.
Weekday mornings are the least crowded times to visit popular attractions. Many restaurants do not take reservations, so plan for waits during dinner hours. Cash is still accepted everywhere, but cards are preferred.
