At 5,046 feet, Newfound Gap marks where US-441 crosses the state line, offering accessible panoramic views and the Rockefeller Memorial where FDR dedicated the park in 1940. The Appalachian Trail crosses here. short hikes in either direction are possible. The drive from Gatlinburg takes approximately 30 minutes via scenic Newfound Gap Road. Restrooms available. Temperatures run 10-15 degrees cooler than lower elevations. No entrance fee required.
