This 5.5-mile one-way loop winds through old-growth forest past rushing streams, historic log structures, and trailheads for Rainbow Falls and Grotto Falls. The narrow road creates a canopy tunnel effect particularly striking during fall color or after rainfall. Multiple short walking paths access historic buildings. The road closes December through mid-March. Access from Historic Nature Trail Road in Gatlinburg (traffic light #8). No RVs or buses permitted due to road width.
